Enjoying a beachside location on L ’ Anse aux Épines ( Prickly Bay ) in about eight acres of gardens , Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel and Spa is an extremely well-run hotel offering guests a wide range of facilities , an exceptional kitchen and a friendly service . The accommodation comprises of 30 newly decorated suites in mainly two-storey houses , forming a semicircle facing the beach across a lawn dotted with palm trees and shrubs . The sandy beach is set in a natural bay that offers good bathing and water sports . On the beach , trees provide natural shade and The Beach Bar is close at hand with a range of cooling drinks and very tempting light lunches - the Calabash club sandwich with chicken , pineapple and nutmeg comes highly recommended . The swimming pool , a short distance from the beach , is a good size and has crisp white tiles . Bougainvillaea provide dramatic bursts of colour . Dinner is served under trailing Thunbergia vine in the hotel ’ s restaurant , which is under the full direction of Gary Rhodes . Local ingredients such as barracuda , dorado , kingfish , guava , nutmeg and dasheen are combined to provide dishes of the highest quality and imagination . Suites are spacious and very comfortable , having been thoughtfully redesigned and decorated with new furnishings and fabrics last year . All have a balcony or patio where a maid serves your à la carte breakfast every morning . Leisure features at the hotel include tennis , water sports and a PADI dive centre .
