It opened in 2003 after being completely refurbished and restored from a 14th Century fortified tower house . The hotel is named after the clock set on the arch between the hotel and the adjoining house by the architect Vasari who was instrumental in the development of much of Pisa including the Piazza delle Sette Strade .
