This is a 3-night tour with a maximum of 14 people , staying in a central 4-star hotel in Verona with a choice of optional visits to the opera in the Arena during the Verona Opera Festival . You are accompanied by a wine and food expert and enjoy visits with wine-tasting and lunches in Soave , Valpolicella , Lake Garda and the Colli Euganei .

The Veneto is a region with wildly opposing styles of wines , from the crisp elegant whites of Lugana or Soave , a far cry from jug wines of trattorias of days gone by and today enticing elegant white wines , through to one of Italy ’ s most iconic wines – the rich seductive Amarone . During our stay we will be tasting a delightful range of wines – including cheery bright Valpolicella , Ripasso and irresistible dessert wine , all of which will be paired with local specialities such as risotto from the nearby rice fields of the region through to fish caught in Lake Garda , Europe ’ s largest lake .

2023 is the centennial season of the Verona opera festival , held in the Verona Arena , the city ’ s Roman amphitheatre . You can choose to attend one , two or three performances during your stay in Verona and there is a choice of seating . Performances start late ( 20.45 ) as dusk falls over the mediaeval Piazza Bra in the heart of Verona , where a multinational opera-loving crowd mingles . In the mornings , there will be leisurely starts after a late night at the Opera !
