THE 1920S COLONIAL PLANTER ’ S bungalow of Aislaby tea estate , Kirchhayn is surrounded by its own 50 acres of manicured tea slopes and sprawling gardens in the secluded highlands around Bandarawela . Having remained in the hands of the founding Bostock family until a few years ago , Kirchhayn gives guests first-hand experience of the old traditions of tea plantation life . This is a world of croquet on the lawn and evening log fires in the living room . Start your day with divine home-grown ‘ bed tea ’ and enjoy breakfast in the bedroom , dining room , or on the garden patio . Most of the ingredients are sourced from the estate ’ s own fruit and vegetable garden and small farm .
