RESTING ON THE SANDY BEACHES to the north of Trincomalee , Trinco Blu was once a 70s resort designed to resemble a great sailing vessel . The hotel has since been transformed and re-opened in 2010 , styled in a fresh , retro-chic design . There are 81 rooms with bleached wooden decks , cut cement floors , rattan furniture and denim trimmings . Splashes of bright orange adorn the bedrooms and are a contrast to the blues and whites of the rest of the decoration , inside and outside the building . Rooms are simple but chic , and in-keeping with the climate and location . There are two restaurants , one , buffet-style , is called the Captain ’ s Deck , and the other , called the Crab , is an open-air restaurant on the beach , renowned for its signature dishes of crab . Trinco Blu allows for time relaxing alongside the infinity pool , on the sandy beach or trying out the PADI certified dive centre . Thirst-quenching concoctions are served at the Rum Hold . A stay at Trinco Blu gives you a relaxing and informal base with plenty of opportunities to rest and chill , whilst having numerous culture and sightseeing within a very short reach .
