Le Vieux Logis is an outstandingly attractive hotel . Formerly a manor house dating back 400 years , it has been built in the regional style and is located in a quaint , authentic Périgord village in a bend in the river Dordogne . Surrounded by lawns and beautiful gardens , through which a stream flows , the Vieux Logis is a four-star Relais & Châteaux hotel of exceptional charm and character . There are cosy lounges with open fireplaces , comfortable sofas and armchairs , walls decorated with pretty prints , pictures and ornaments which all create a homely atmosphere . The 18 rooms vary in size , some are situated in the main manor house , others in delightfully refurbished houses across the driveway in the garden . Although all rooms are furnished individually , a common thread of exceptionally high standards , antiques or rustic local furniture , ornaments and pictures ties the interior together . Rich-coloured fabrics complement the natural material of the building , the stone and the timbers and communal areas have a wonderful inviting feel , especially in the lounge with its leather armchairs and roaring woodburner . A cosy bar , as well , enhances the feeling of relaxing and inviting comfort . The atmospheric Michelin starred restaurant is situated in what was a tobacco-drying house and focuses on regional and seasonal cuisine . An outdoor swimming pool with deckchairs is an ideal place to relax whilst the hotel ’ s lush gardens offer a peaceful space , where under the shelter of lime trees you can listen to the brook that runs through the grounds . Le Vieux Logis is the sort of place you could ensconce yourself in for days on end with a few good books , perhaps venturing out to visit a local market , for a walk along the river or to potter through the pretty villages of golden stone .
